Our History

The Naval Dockyard Apprentice School (NDAS) was recommissioned on 30 May 19 after being closed for about 3 decades. The School was established to develop technical expertise in specialties such as Plumbing and Pipe Fitting, Welding and Fabrication, Electrical Electronics and Motor Rewinding, and Woodwork and Joinery.

These specialized skill areas are critical for local shipbuilding and efficient operation of the Naval Dockyard, Shipyard, FSGs and to further enhance the 3 levels of maintenance in the NN. Since the reopening of the School, the NDAS has conducted 3 batches of three-month Basic Certificate Courses (BCC) exclusively for NN technical personnel, and a fourth batch is currently enrolled. On the other hand, the School is poised to admit trainees from NA, NAF and civilians.
